Larry Dale Hatley was born in the mountains of Tennessee on a muggy day in August 1954. Dry run TN to be exact, not much of a town as he tells it, but has a history of being a spot where moonshine making flourished. When Larry was a teen, his family moved to the hickory area for better job opportunities. Larry stayed behind with his grandparents, helping with the farm chores day to day. Larry has always loved to be helpful and to take care of others. He learned how to hull tobacco and corn and how to grade and separate the crops by colors. Larry with his grandparents in TN until Their passing. Moving to the Hickory area in 1975, He got a job in the same factory as his dad, and worked there for 15 years.
Larry has been a fan of race cars since he can remember. His family would together on Sundays and pull for their favorite drivers. He remembers Sunday suppers, always with a pot of pinto beans and some fried taters on the side. He grew up loving the WWf as well. He is proud to say he has met some of the best, the most memorable being Dusty Rhodes. His favorite memories were made on an old motorcycle that he would ride up and down the dirt roads until dark.
Larry came to our facility almost 2 years ago. He came in quiet, but has not stayed that way! He was crowned our CNRC Valentine King his first year here. He was proud of that title and wore his crown for most of the year! He has now taken on the role of CNRC Mailman, delivering the mail and our daily activity packets to residents, always taking time to help others along the way. He always has a warm smile on his face, never missing the opportunity to brighten someone’s day. He has become a vital part of our activity department as well as the facility as a whole. We are lucky to have you Larry Dale Hatley!
